Blog Questions

1.       What is your theme-genre? How did you arrive at this decision? What inspired you?
My theme-genre is Attitudes in the twenty first century music. I came to this decision because attitudes can mean various things and music has different topics to talk about. Just all the different lyrics artists come up with to their true feelings.

2. Describe your research, work time, and progression in terms of sources, artists, subject matter, and logistics.
I just would do research on the artists because it would help show why they wrote a song about something or how it described their lives. Sometimes it takes a lot of work but you have to search and make sure you know what a certain term means.

3. Describe how your writing has evolved or progressed over the semester. What writing tools or habits, learned in this course, will you carry forth in your academic career? How might writing about music aid you in other areas of written expression?
I’ve gotten better because we did a lot of thesis statements and had different writing skills. That looking more into your writing and what it actually stands for helps write better essays. It helps because you look into for literary devices, which helps a lot.

4. Describe the experience of focusing on one (theme-genre) project for a period of 5 months. How can this long-term experience translate to other aspects of your life?
It wasn’t bad because it was all music that I really like. It can because you actually get to look into the songs more than you would when just listening to it. It is other aspects because it helps you’re knowledge on literary devices and different approaches on essays.

5. How would you describe your knowledge of music world before this course? What artists or songs have impacted you?
I knew it kind of well because I love music and I listen to it all the time. I wouldn’t say one certain artist or song impacted me but music in general.

6. Which piece of writing do you identify as being your strongest? Why? What elements of this successful piece might transfer to your future writing? Paste an excerpt from this piece to read to the class?
My second song analysis because I knew what to look for in the song more than the first time. I would take the fact that I listed more of what I knew.

              7. Which piece of writing do you identify as being your weakest? Why? How might you change your approach to enhance your future writing?
I think my weakest piece of writing was my first song analysis because I wasn’t sure what to do and how I should complete it and what was good things to talk about.  I’ll definitely research into songs or whatever I’m writing about more.

8. Did you like the experience of using a blog to store and present your work? Or would you prefer another method of presentation?
I do but I don’t. I do because I can easily do my work at home and pass it in with no worries. But I don’t because it makes it easier for me to slack off.

Lecture thing

1.)    The approach that Robinson takes on his lecture is very different.  He talks about how the grade levels should not be split up by age but intelligence. He stated that he knows different kids of the same age that are on very different intelligence levels and could be in separate grades. I like his approach because it’s not used often, he talks about many topics but somehow they all intertwine with one another. I think some changes to Norton High School could be that the classes could be separated into the grades students get and the classes would be equal. But if younger students did have the grades to go into AP classes they could. But I don’t think that older and much younger students, like people in 6th grade, should be in classes with High School students. But yes, students with very good grades should be in classes with students that are seniors who also have very good grades as well.
2.) I think the Stairway to Heaven, ...Baby One More Time, and Another One Bites the Dust are true and make sense backwards. i think Paparazzi, Im So Tired, and Fire On High aren't because i didn't think that they sounded like anything. I think they don't make sense the way some people hear the words. My Name Is by Eminem i think they over looked it because his name is Eminem and they think it says it again. People pushed it to think that eminem actually  intended it to be backwards and it wasn't. But i do think alot of Beatles songs mean it.
